Edinburgh bound

Happy Sunday everyone! Well, after many months of planning our Scottish and Irish vacation, we are now just hours away from flying to Edinburgh, the first part of our trip.

We left Beaconsfield this morning, with the pooches in tow, to drop them off at Camp Talemaker. Those two have already started their vacation I hear. Cooper was apparently doing the zoomies in the backyard while Spicy was trying to stop him in his tracks. They will have a great time and will be well taken care of.

As for us, we are now sitting in the lounge, relaxing after a five hour drive. Our flight is at 7 pm. We will land in Edinburgh at 6:30 am local time. Our room at the Balmoral Hotel will be waiting for us. We are pretty excited. Russell's kilt is a "carry-on", got to keep it safe. We will spend the next couple of days touring Edinburgh. On Wednesday, we will board the Belmond Royal Scotsman train and start our five day journey into the Scottish Highlands. What an adventure it will be.  Two of the five dinners on the train will be formal....kilt worthy. After the train journey, we will make our way to Ireland. More about that as we get closer to the date.

As we embark on this amazing journey, we are reminded how lucky we are to be able to go back to our roots...both of us are of Scottish and Irish descent, to some extent. Our parents will be watching over us, no doubt.

It's a short blog today. I plan on doing mini updates throughout our vacation. I hear the "wifi" on the train is hit and miss, we'll see. Somehow, I will find a way to make a few entries.

I leave you with a few pics that we took of us and our pooches before we left, some crazy family time on the grass. We will miss them dearly. Have a great week and I will write again soon!

The Duncan Clan tartan kilt safely packed in a special
custom kilt roll.

Nothing better than a roll in the hay...or in this case
grass...Cooper and Spicy love to romp specially
with Russell.

Spicy is a kisser and on the backyard
grass she and Cooper gave me some
special snuggles.
