It's a hot one!

Happy Sunday everyone! We're experiencing another heat wave but the breeze is making it more bearable, in the shade that is. Looks like hot weather for the next few days.

All is good with us. We had a good week but interestingly enough, it felt long, possibly due to the St-Jean-Baptiste holiday on Thursday. On Friday, we thought it was Saturday...all our days were mixed up.

Our pooches started their week with a bath on Monday, including pad/feet trims and nails. They got the full spa treatment. Then the rain came....

We got some yard work done, weeding, trimming branches, grass cutting. I also brought out the jumps and had some agility fun with Cooper & Spicy. They enjoyed it as much as I did.

It goes without saying that we watched the hockey game on Thursday. Russell and the doggies went to bed before the end of the third period, I stayed up to watch the overtime. Lucky for me, it didn't last long but I was sitting on the edge of my seat for the whole 90 seconds or so. I have to say though, with so much going on in the world right now, specifically in our own country, and not all pandemic related, it is nice to be able to rejoice in the HABS upcoming Stanley Cup finals. We haven't had much to celebrate in the past 15 months, so this is a nice and pleasant distraction.

Because of the heat, we had a mid morning walk by the lake. It was nice and breezy. As I'm writing this blog, Russell is in the basement, where it is super cold, and is playing his guitar (s). Coop & Spicy are keeping me company on the deck. Dinner tonight will be simple...chicken kebabs and a greek salad. We will cook extra chicken for tomorrow night. Best to eat light in this heat.

That's my blog for today. I hope you have all a wonderful week. Stay well and safe. The best of luck to our HABS tomorrow night!

Hey...it is pouring rain...let us in!

A day to celebrate all Dads

Happy Father's Day to all the dads and doggie/pet dads out there! A special and loving thought to those dads who are no longer with us. Ours may be gone but they are forever in our hearts. We miss them always. Today, I join Cooper and Spicy in celebrating their human daddy. Russell loves them to the moon and back, the way he would if we had children. The bond that they share is very special. Thank you Russell for all that you do for our "kids" 💝

Today also marks the first day of Summer. It is a beautiful day too, hot and sunny. As we celebrate both Father's Day and the start of a new season, we also celebrate the fact that we are now a fully vaccinated family. I was fortunate to get my second shot last Monday, five weeks earlier than planned. It is a wonderful feeling!

This past week was relatively quiet. We had a day or two of on and off rain, which was welcome. I can't say enough about how happy we are to have installed the awning. No matter the weather, we are out there from morning until night,  in between doing other things of course 😊

Last Thursday, I met up with my friend Lillian at the market. It was nice to be able to sit outside and chat for a while. We even took our masks off....there was enough distance between us and the other tables. I bought my second crate of local strawberries. They are especially good and sweet this year. I eat them for breakfast and throughout the day. I also made strawberry compote which is delicious with yogourt. Russell likes it a lot.

It goes without saying that there is a buzz in the air these days in Montreal....hockey fever at its best! Our Habs are doing exceptionally well and it's very exciting. We wish them the best of luck tonight. We will be watching of course 👏

That's my blog for today. I don't have many photos this week, just a few snapshots of the pooches here and there. The main photo is of Russell with his beauties. I wish you all a wonderful week and, for my Quebec friends, a great St-Jean-Baptiste Day on Thursday. Stay well and safe!

One of those lazy, hazy (but not crazy) days of Summer

Hello everyone and happy Sunday! I'm doing my blog extra early today. It's one of those days where we just want to chill and do nothing. We walked our pooches mid-morning for a change. Our weather is quite warm and hazy. We just had lunch. We're now getting ready for an afternoon of pure laziness 😉

Our past week was good but so very hot for a couple of days. Needless to say, we didn't do much on those days, no walks, no gardening, no nothing. We got ourselves a fan for the deck which is actually quite nice for those super hot days. When the weather cooled down, I did manage to weed the garden beds. What we need now is rain, lots of it. I heard maybe Monday or Tuesday. Our grass is not as green and plush....some of the grass blades are very dry. Miss Spicy hops over them, me no likey she says. She is such a princess 💖

Cooper had his monthly B-12 injection. He will have a couple more then we will skip two months and redo the blood work in October. At that time, he will also get a complete blood panel and an ultrasound to check his gallbladder. Coop is doing good though and his weight continues to be stable. We can't ask for anything more.

Russell plays his guitar almost every day. He subscribed to Fender Play, an online learning resource, which he finds extremely useful. He is learning some good stuff.

I completed the "Fuel Your Fitness" challenge last Friday. I learned a few new nutritional concepts during those eight weeks. The workouts were also very good. I saved all the videos so I have a good library to choose from moving forward.

The 145th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show kicked off yesterday in New York. Bono, the beautiful Havanese, won Breed. We were not surprised. He's had a very good career so far! It was fascinating to watch all the Havanese, and other breeds also, in the show ring.

Those are my news for today. Have a great week everyone. Stay well and safe! GO HABS GO!

These two followed the musical notes to the

he played quite loudly.

Heat Wave and BYOB

Happy Sunday to all! A hot air mass has made an appearance and will stick around for a few days. You can really feel the heat now. Our pooches have been alternating between time on the deck and inside.  When they want to go in, they stand in front of the screen door. Yesterday, around dinner time, we had a strong thunderstorm and a huge downpour.  Our awning came in handy once again.  We needed the rain badly.

We just got back from a lovely picnic on the lawn of the Willow Inn in Hudson. It was a BYOB kind of thing....."bring your own blanket and we take care of the rest". A fantastic idea and such a great spot. To our delight, we were allowed to bring Cooper & Spicy. We sat under a huge tree so lots of shade. It was a nice way to spend a few hours and the food was delicious. I had the Nordic Shrimp Green Goddess Salad and Russell had a cod sandwich, paired with a tall bottle of sparkling water. Our pooches had a few homemade treats and lots of water also. A wonderful family outing 💖Oh, and Cooper insisted on wearing one of his new ties, to match Spicy's orange bow 😊

Our week was good and quiet. We didn't do much but it went by so quickly. We seem to have fallen into a routine now....we get all our stuff done in the morning, be it workouts, house cleaning, walk with the dogs, then we spent the afternoon doing whatever pleases us. For me, these days, it's watching House of Cards on Netflix....a couple of episodes each day then I read my book. As for Russell, he's keeping busy with his guitars. He is now learning the pentatonic scales, the placement of all the notes on the fret board and how to play a number of riffs.  He is truly enjoying it. His set up is downstairs, in our TV room, a nice and comfortable space. We don't watch much TV there anymore, we prefer to be upstairs in the den. Coop & the Spice girl often go downstairs to listen to their daddy's music. They seem to like it.

Our garden is doing well. Everything is growing as it should. The recent rain has helped. This week, I will weed.... I must.

That's my blog for this hot Sunday.  Tonight, is another Habs game. Hoping for a big win.

Have a great week everyone! Stay well and safe!
