A Spring Day

Hello everyone and happy Sunday! What a beautiful day, Spring like, the birds are chirping, the sun is warm and it is mild out there! We went for a nice walk by the waterfront and the ice that was on the lake yesterday is now gone. So many people were out and about enjoying the wonderful weather. March is just around the corner, so is the time change. Wow, already!

This past week was good.  Russell had his one year visit with the knee surgeon. The prosthesis is looking the way it should. Next visit will be in a few years....seems so far away.

I continue to enjoy my new fitness studio. I do three classes a week. They are quite intense, so for now, three classes seem enough. As of today, I added a deep stretch yoga class to my routine. I went to my first class at 9 am this morning...my first EVER yoga class. I quite enjoyed it and I know that my body will be thanking me for it. I need to stretch so badly, you have no idea. I'm hoping this yoga thing will help. Namaste.

On Wednesday, I decided to make some dehydrated chicken strips for the pooches. They turned out quite nicely and they seem to like them as much as the ones we buy. We will try to convert to homemade over time.

Yesterday, after our walk, we settled in front of the TV and watched "A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood". What a beautiful movie. Truly inspiring and it will make you self reflect. Tom Hanks is superb in this movie, as always.

This coming week will be a bit busy. Spicy and I will visit the seniors, Coop will attend Fun Obedience class, they will both have a bath and we may get snow or rain. Other than that, it will be quiet.

That's my blog for today. I wish you all a great week!

The ice on Lake St. Louis has begun to break up. It was gone today.

Yum...homemade dehydrated chicken strips...
Spicy and Cooper approve.

Snowshoeing anyone?

Happy Sunday to all! Lots of people are enjoying an extra long weekend thanks to Family Day in many provinces. I hope you all have a great time with your loved ones. When we lived in Ontario, we used to love that holiday, a nice break in the middle of Winter. There is no Family Day in Quebec but it doesn't matter. We're retired, maybe tomorrow will be a "Family Day" for us!

This past week was good. Russell had a wonderful birthday. We had a lovely lunch in Pointe-Claire village. The rest of HIS day was spent at home with his three loves. We showered Russell with presents, kisses and a birthday cake. It was a wonderful celebration for a wonderful man!

On Thursday, Russell got me some snowshoes. We started thinking that snowshoeing would be better than shovelling for my arm. I think we may be on to something! Yesterday, I flattened some of the snow banks...now we can see the pooches when they travel the paths. Next time we get snow, my plan is to snowshoe the paths.  We'll see how that goes. Either way, it's a great exercise, whether one snowshoes in the woods or in a backyard.

Valentines Day came and went. It was a relaxing day and a great way to enjoy Friday night Pizza and Wine!

Today feels like Spring, mild and sunny. We were out with the pooches earlier and the cardinals were all around us, happy and singing away. I love those birds!

Not much else is going on with us. We've been quiet and lazy. Nothing wrong with that. As such, it's a short blog. I'm reading a good book, Russell is updating his Ancestry data base. Cooper and Spicy are waiting for dinner. It's all good.

I wish you all a great week and a happy Family Day, for those that celebrate.

Russell and his birthday crew...Spicy and Cooper...the carrot cake
was delicious but none for the pooches!

Spicy and Cooper are always willing to lend a hand!

A new whiskey...Oban Little Bay. What a lucky
guy. The pooches approve.

A nice birthday lunch...does not get any better.

Cooper and Spicy love to supervise...my snowshoe
technique was in fine form.

One snow bank done...a few more to do. Sure beats shovelling!

Winter Wonderland

Happy Sunday everyone! A quiet day for us.  We woke up to some very cold temperatures, -22 celsius, but it warmed up quite quickly to a comfortable -6 celsius at the moment. Despite the cold, the sun was shining and there was no wind so it was actually nice outside.

This past week was good. We didn't do much other than going to the gym, a couple of walks with the pooches and my weekly Tuesday training with the Coop. We are feeling a bit lazy these days, must be the time of year, don't feel like doing much. On Friday, we got our first big snow storm of the season, not bad for almost mid-February. Some areas in Quebec received up to 40 cm of snow, we got about 25 cm. Having said this, it came down quite rapidly so I found myself going out every couple of hours to clear the backyard paths. I also went to the gym that day so I was quite spent on Friday night.  Saturday morning, the sun was shining so Russell took some nice photos of the snow. I also cleaned up the paths and created two large "turnarounds" for Cooper and Spicy. I know, I can get carried away but that's the way I am....and the dogs love it!

This coming week is shaping up to be busy and fun. Tomorrow, Spicy and I will visit the residents at the Wellesley Retirement Home. Spicy will give everyone much love and kisses. The seniors love her to pieces. Tuesday, Coop and I will train then I will get my eyebrows shaped. On Wednesday, it is Russell's 65th birthday. The doggies and I look forward to spoiling him silly. Thursday, I will have another physio treatment for my arm. I basically undid all the progress I had made by shovelling. My choice, it will get better. We will finish the "work week" by celebrating Valentines Day but not before my pedicure on Friday afternoon. All in all, a good week on the horizon.

I leave you with the photos that Russell took yesterday, as well as one of Spicy's Sunday hairdo.  She loves messing up her hair, her daughter Pepper is the same. I also took a picture of Cooper this morning laying down in front of the basement stairs...his way to tell us that he wants to go play. He's a funny boy.

Have a great week everyone and enjoy Oscar night!

Just a portion of the backyard paths/maze I shovelled for
Cooper and Spicy to do their business and have fun!

Spicy took a moment to take it all in with the sun beaming

Go Chiefs Go!

Happy Super Bowl Sunday everyone! A cloudy day for us and on the mild side. So far, I must say it's been an easy Winter. We've had some cold days but overall, it's been quite nice. We have just enough snow to keep the paws clean. Given the little amount of snow, we've been having our daily walks at the park in Pointe-Claire, by the waterfront. The dogs and us don't sink when walking, it's perfect. The best part is our pooches don't have to wear their boots. They don't mind them but prefer walking bare paws. Only two months left of Winter....it will be Spring before we know it!

This past week was good and quiet. We had a good stretch of sunshine which made the days feel really long, in a good way. We have a rabbit that seems to come by during the day, leaving a little trail of goodies on the snow...we haven't seen it but we know it comes through our backyard throughout the day. Cooper and Spicy get to sniff its trail each time they go out. On Friday morning, we also came face to face, through our wrought iron fence, with a racoon.  Needless to say Coop and Spicy barked up a storm and the racoon didn't move. It seemed dazed and sick. I took the dogs in right away and saw the racoon leave from the kitchen window. We haven't seen him since but we're on the lookout each time we go out.

Cooper and I had a good time at our Fun Obedience class on Tuesday. Sharon is replacing Wanda, who is recovering from knee replacement surgery. It looks like all went well with the surgery. It can only get better from this point on. Sharon is a very good instructor and we enjoyed the class with her.

So, here we are, another Super Bowl Sunday. This year, we will be cheering for the Chiefs....a great team with great players...we will be cheering specifically for #76, Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, a medical doctor graduate from McGill University, currently the only active MD player in the NFL. A great story and "un gars de chez nous" as we say in Quebec! We wish him well in today's game.

That's my blog for today. Have a great week everyone!

Cooper and Spicy in their Chiefs bowtie and bow will be
cheering on Kansas City! Go Chiefs Go!

Nice to have a seat while on our daily walk...Spicy and
Cooper love to sit and take in the sun with Russell.

Lake St. Louis is icing up but not as quickly this Winter.

Cooper at Fun Obedience...taking a little
break before getting back to the action.

Spicy can be a mooch...here she is
looking at me while I'm having dinner...saying come give it up.
