Barbados...home away from home

Hello from beautiful Barbados, our home away from home for the next two weeks. We've been coming to this island for the past 27 years or so.....we love it, what more can I say. The perfect place for a relaxing, no fuss vacation.

We arrived last Friday. Russell's new knee travelled really well. As expected, the alarms went off when he went through security.  The agent gently patted down the knee and all was cleared. The flight was good and Russell walked the aisles a few times just to get the leg moving.  His only concern was getting off the plane and going down the stairs (in Barbados, deplaning is outside) but as luck would have it, for the first time ever, the stairs were replaced by a ramp. Russell was a happy camper.

When we got to our hotel, we received a warm "welcome back" from the staff. It was really nice to see them all and to be remembered by them.  Our room was ready....room 309, as always. A wonderful fruit basket was in the kitchen, my breakfast for the next few days.

The weather has been great, warm and breezy, with a few brief moments of liquid sunshine.

We haven't done much since our arrival other than relax and enjoy the moments.  Russell has had a few walks on the beach and has done some knee stretching in the pool. Our room is on the third floor, and our bedroom is on the second level, so he is using the many stairs as another form of exercise. As for me, I walked a bit today, not much, and have been reading my book...a real page turner (Greg Iles, Cemetery Road).

While we are in our home away from home, the same goes for our pooches. They are doing well and are playing their heart out with their friends.

We are off to the West Coast for dinner tonight, The Cliff Restaurant. We look forward to it. This coming week will be busier at our hotel, with the Easter holiday. It's all good.

Have a great week everyone and enjoy the upcoming long weekend!

Balcony view from 309 early this morning.

The "Office" for the next few weeks.

Some random color, let us know what these are...
and win a prize.

Just a few books I plan to read while lounging in the sun.

The Barbados All Star Steel Band...every Sunday at lunch
and never fail to entertain.
