The heat is on!

Happy Sunday everyone! It's a hot one, 34 Celsius, with a heat warning in effect. Having said this, the humidity is low so it's not too bad. The pooches had their walk mid-morning and they are now staying cool in the house. When they want to join us on the deck, they will let us know. We will have cold water ready for them.

This past week was good although we had two full days of rain and evening thunderstorms. The temperature was also cool. Many basements were flooded. Thankfully, we didn't have any issues although our sump pump had to work extra hard to keep up with the rainfall. The grass was squishy for almost two days.

Not much is going on with us. We had a quiet St-Jean Baptiste. Russell smoked baby back ribs and they were delicious. We are both gearing up for our physical in two weeks time. We will get our blood work done next week. This coming Wednesday, I have a dentist appointment for a crown. I will need a little gum surgery on that tooth, all will be done at the same time. Soft food will be on the menu for a day or two. No big deal.

Our pooches are well. Due to the rain, we had some fun play in the basement. It had been a while since I did some form of training with them. They both enjoyed it....anything for a treat!

It's hard to believe that June is coming to a close. It's been a good Summer so far. Hoping that the next few months go by very slowly.

That's my blog for today, short and sweet. Russell will be barbecuing veal chops tonight. I will make an arugula, watermelon and feta salad.....peppery, sweet and salty, the perfect combination for a hot Summer day.

Have a great week everyone and Happy Canada Day!

The Cleopatra Cana is stunning
and huge!

Cooper and Spicy are ready to train...what's on tap?

A little target training....notice the intense focus

for the signal.

Time to do a little weave training!

Celebrating all Dads!

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there! A very special Dad's Day to Cooper & Spicy's human daddy. They are so lucky to have Russell in their lives.  They share an extraordinary bond. Thank you Russell for all you do for our kids 💞My father, and Russell's, are always in our hearts, today and every day. We miss them greatly.

This past week was good. Our weather was nice for the first part of the week then we got quite a bit of rain on Thursday. Yesterday was downright cool, only 11 Celsius until about dinner time, then it got a bit warmer. For the first time since the "opening" of our deck, we ate inside. The cool weather was short lived, today is beautiful and warm. Back outside!

During one of our walks last week, we met an older couple that we hadn't seen for a while. They saw us coming from a distance and they waved. We picked up our pace and met up with them. They were so happy to see Cooper & Spicy again. We chatted for a bit while they were petting our pooches. Dog therapy at its best!

Strawberry season is in full force. I bought a half flat on Friday. They are sweet and delicious. I also bought some rhubarb and made a rhubarb/strawberry crisp, one of Russell's favorite Summer dessert. A nice treat for his special day 🍓

Montreal is buzzing with excitement this weekend. Today is the F1 Grand Prix, back after two pandemic related cancellations. The weather couldn't be better. From what we saw on the news this morning, Crescent Street was jam packed last night. Wishing all the fans and tourists a great day and best of luck to all drivers!

Russell, Coop & Spicy are having a nap. I'm outside listening to music. Tonight's dinner is a Tomahawk Steak. We don't eat much beef so this chunk of steak should satisfy our beef cravings for months to come 😂 I will make a simple salad to go with it, with strawberries and a sprinkle of blue cheese and a baked potato.

Have a great week everyone!

Cooper and Spicy wish all Dads a Happy
Father's Day...they love their daddy to the moon
and back.

And just like that...the peonies are in full bloom...
short lived beauties.

It is strawberry season...nothing better than
fresh home grown!

How do you like my hair...I did
extra face planting to get this style.

We don't care if you are changing the bedsheets,
we are not moving!

Ahhh...time for a chew under the table and maybe
a little nap.

Cooper loves the feel of cool grass on his belly.

Sunday bath

Happy Sunday everyone! Our day started very sunny but it's clouding over and it's quite warm. This past week's weather was a mix bag of rain and sun, on the cooler side. We actually got quite a bit of rain on Thursday. Good for the grass and flowers.  It also was my excuse to get a bit of work done in the house. I decided to tackle the bathrooms, specifically the vanity drawers and medicine cabinet....found a lot of expired items!

All is good with us. Russell just finished bathing Cooper & Spicy. He does it once a month and we can always tell when it's time for a bath. They both feel very soft and smell delicious. All in, it takes Russell three hours to do both, including the pre-bath brushing. He does an amazing job 💖

I took the week off from working out. It was one of those weeks where I simply didn't feel like doing much.  It happens. We'll see what tomorrow brings 😏

Russell found a whole bunch of new music stations that we play through our Sonos music system (though available on any device). This is on top of all the stations that we currently have (all free). We quite like the Exclusively Radio stations which only play a particular group or singer such as Bee Gees, Neil Diamond, The Carpenters and many more. Last night, we sat outside for a while, listening to all kinds of music. It was quite nice.

Friday was the official reopening of a revamped Provigo in Kirkland, just minutes away from our house. The store is part of a $5.6 million project introducing gourmet food stations, including a pizza station...each one baked in a stone oven, offering 10 types of pizzas. I could go on and on about the variety of ready-to-eat foods, all freshly made. The focus is on promoting as many local products as possible. Of course, I visited the store on an empty stomach which was a huge mistake....I came home with a selection of pizza squares for dinner. Russell's favorite was BBQ chicken while mine was arugula with brie. Yummy and a repeat for sure!

Those are my little news for today. I wish you all a great week!

...Spicy is smart.

Paws up...when is dinner?!

What are we going to do on a rainy day, Cooper
wants to know?!

A beautiful June Sunday

Hello everyone and happy Sunday! Our weather is gorgeous, sunny and just hot enough. The perfect June weather. We just got back from a walk. Cooper and Spicy met a lovely two year old Irish Setter, very friendly. They also said "hi" to a cute Frenchie. Then they stopped to smell the roses.

The four of us had a good week. We both had our dental hygiene appointment. All is good except that we both need to have an old crown replaced. Too bad they don't last forever. Russell joked with our dentist that this is probably the last time it needs to be replaced...they last about 15-20 years 😂

Russell is somewhat involved in the Beaconsfield Noise Barrier Project, behind the scenes. It's keeping him quite busy. It is a very controversial project which is creating a lot of chatter amongst the residents. It is expected that our mayor will do a referendum in the next few months in order to determine whether or not we will get the wall. Time will tell.

I'm not involved in anything of the sort, which is fine by me. I recently watched a few good series on both Netflix and Prime Video: Anatomy of a Scandal, The Lincoln Lawyer, Clickbait and Bosch - The Legacy. I enjoyed all four of them.

Those are my little news for today. I leave you with a few photos that we took throughout the week. Yesterday, I captured Russell giving kisses to our pooches...the reason why I always have my phone with me. You never know when a photo opportunity will arise.

Have a great week everyone!

Cooper and Spicy stopped to smell the wild
roses which are in bloom at Edgewater Park.
